ACNATAC, from Mylan Health Pty Ltd, was Therapeutic Goods Association (TGA) approved in 2018 and is indicated for patients 12 years and older for the treatment of acne vulgaris when comedones, papules and pustules are present.

The drug is a new, once-daily, aqueous-based, fixed-dose combination topical gel for the treatment of acne vulgaris. It contains no alcohol and does not need to be stored in the fridge and is available as a 30g or 60g size through private prescription from a healthcare professional from 1 August 2019.

The antimicrobial and retinoid combination work together to target multiple pathogenic factors of acne including abnormal follicular keratinization, P. acnes proliferation and inflammation. Evidence suggests tretinoin increases the penetration of clindamycin.
