The National Health Genomics Policy Framework (the Framework) sets out the Council of Australian Government (COAG) Health Minister’s agreed approach to integrating genomics into the Australian health system. The Framework is a shared commitment by all states and territories and the federal government to leverage the benefits of genomics.

The Framework is supported by an Implementation Plan, which is a high-level document aimed at identifying coordinated action by governments, health professionals, non-government organisations and industry. The Implementation Plan sets out a three year plan to achieve the intention of the Framework through five strategic priority areas:

  1. Person-centred approach
  2. Workforce
  3. Financing
  4. Services
  5. Data.

The Framework, Implementation Plan and supplementary information documents can be accessed online through the COAGs Health Council website.
