Who’s Eligible: College Trainees completing the Fellowship exam
Amount: Up to $10,000
Awarded: Post Fellowship exam to the most meritorious candidate in the Fellowship exam.
About the Grant: First offered in 1977, this prize is awarded to the most meritorious candidate in the Fellowship Examination. Galderma Australia Pty Ltd makes available $10,000.00 for the prize winner to attend the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) meeting (or other approved meeting) the next year. The prize, as determined by the NEXC, is awarded to the candidate with the highest Overall Fellowship Examination Score.
The Award: The cost of airfare and accommodation for the travel to the Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology will be covered. The recipient is expected to visit several dermatology departments as well as attending the Academy Meeting.
Recipients of this Fellowship are asked to apply for reimbursement of their expenses. Recipients will be required to furnish receipts and other documentation to substantiate their expenses.
Award conditions: The recipient must prepare a report, within three months upon return, for the Board meeting prior to the ASM. The report may be required to be presented at the ASM, and will be published in the Australasian Journal of Dermatology.

Dr F.C. Florance was one of Sydney’s early dermatologists and a founder of the College, who believed that dermatologists should benefit from overseas dermatological training and exposure to expand their practice. He helped ex-servicemen establish their dermatological practices upon returning from WW2.
The Florance Family bequeathed to College a donation which enabled the establishment of the Florance Bequest, which since 1987 has facilitated approx. 75 Fellows to undertake an approved course of study overseas. The Family has kindly supported College in the redirection of these funds to align with College’s Investment Strategy to support larger scale strategic research and innovation in the future.
To continue to honour Dr Florance’s name and vision, College has established a new award for Fellows to be presented annually at the Conferring Ceremony. Award nominations will be facilitated through Faculty Executives.

Type: Trainee Grant
For: The Fellowship may be used by trainees for 12 months accredited training for the FACD, to gain dermatological experience and relevant expertise at the Churchill Hospital, Oxford, UK.
Who’s Eligible: The Fellowship shall be awarded annually to a trainee of the Australasian College of Dermatologists.
Amount: Up to $40,000
Australasian College of Dermatologists and the Churchill Hospital have donated $40,000 and £18,000 respectively to enable trainees of the Australasian College of Dermatologists to obtain clinical dermatological experience at the Churchill Hospital. The amount available for the Fellowship may vary from year to year.
The grant is available for a training position for provisional accreditation as part of the four year training program of the Australasian College of Dermatologists. In addition, to gain accreditation the applicant must submit progress reports of his/her duties by 1 May and 1 September and a detailed report must be submitted at the end of the approved year of training. These reports must be certified by the head of the training program.
Closing Date: Applications should be received no later than 1 March. Under no circumstances will applications be considered if they reach College after this date.
