Dr Benjamin Carew Bphty, MBBS , GradCertClinEd, FRACGP, FACD
Dr Benjamin Carew is a General Dermatologist with an interest in the treatment of acne, eczema, psoriasis, and cutaneous malignancies as well as medical education and Tele-dermatology. He also provides a range of Laser and cosmetic treatments.
Dr Carew initially trained and worked as a General Practitioner in Central Qld before completing his training as a Dermatologist. He was previously a Visiting Dermatologist at the Mater Hospital where he supervised training Dermatologists and junior doctors (2015-2019).
Dr Carew has a strong interest and commitment to Medical education and has worked as a Medical Educator within the University of Qld as well as Qld Rural Medical Education. Medical Education roles at the University of Qld have included Academic Co-ordinator (General Practice) in the Rural Clinical School of Medicine and more recently filling the role of interim co-director of the Master of Skin Cancer Medicine Program (2018/2019). Dr Carew has also previously been employed as a medical educator for QRME a regional training provider for General Practitioners.
Dr Carew is a director of the Australian Skin Cancer Academy (ASCA), a group of Dermatologists, Plastic Surgeons and General practitioners providing education in the field of skin cancer. He was involved in the initial development of the Practical Dermoscopy course workshops for the Australasian College of Dermatology and remains actively involved in the ongoing delivery of this course.
Dr Carew consults at Stafford and performs theatre lists at Montserrat Daysurgery Gaythorne and Northlakes.
Dr Carew enjoys time his time away from work with his three children and partner Claire.
