A consensus statement from the 2018 sunscreen summit has now been published in the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Public Health. The new recommendation is that people living in Australia and New Zealand should apply SPF 30+ sunscreen as part of their daily routine when the maximum ultraviolet index is forecast to be three or greater. Previous advice was to use sunscreen only as an adjunct to other protective measures during planned outdoors activities.
