Dr Robert Stephens

Dr Robert Stephens

Dr Robert Stephens has been principal of a private dermatology practice in Sydney for over 15 years and has held Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) appointments in London and at Hornsby and Hawkesbury Hospitals in Sydney. More recently, he has undertaken training in high resolution sub-surface skin imaging using optical coherence tomography (OCT) in the USA and in Germany.

Dr Stephens has a special interest in management of non-melanoma skin cancers as well as laser and light therapies. His particular focus is to raise the profile of dermatologists as the leaders in the field of skin cancer management. Dr Stephens feels that this can be achieved through more directed public education as to the different types of skin cancer and raising awareness that treatments other than excision can be used to remove less aggressive types of skin cancer. College is in the unique position in that it provides training to its members in all aspects and modalities of skin cancer management. The training of Australian dermatologists is not limited to surgical removals.
