As a result of the funding received under STP since 2009 the College has been able to increase the capacity of specialist dermatologist registrars into more positions, specifically dedicated rural rotations and rural private practice exposure, as well as general private practice.  The College also has its first position in the ACT, and dedicated positions (rural) in Orange NSW, and Indigenous in VIC. College has 27 STP positions for 2014-2015 and thus is able to provide registrars with the opportunity to learn skills not otherwise available through traditional settings and increase the number of well-supervised, high-quality specialist training opportunities. All training positions under this program are accredited by College and are part of both the College’s State training networks. The following facilities hold STP-funded training positions:

Funding

Funding is of two types: salary and for a range of support activities which include:

  1. clinical supervision training infrastructure every three years for all private sector STP training;
  2. developing system wide education and infrastructure support projects to enhance training opportunities for eligible trainees; and
  3. developing support projects aimed at Specialist International Medical Graduates (SIMGs) to assist these doctors gain Fellowship in a timely and efficient manner.
